Update on Scary/Scary 的近况

Remember Scary (see blog entry dated 11 April 2010)? She was hospitalised in April for bite wounds and was diagnosed with renal failure. She stayed in the clinic for more than 3 weeks and was discharged on 21 April.

Despite her renal failure, we decided to release her since she is already 10 years old and not very happy to be caged in.

Its already more than a month since we released her and she is happy and eating well with the renal diet. She has also put on some weight though she is not as rotund as she used to be.

还记得Scary吗 （请看2010年4月11日的文章）？她在4月因为被咬伤而住院了。在住院期间被诊断出肾衰竭。她在医院住了3个星期后，于4月21日出院。

因为她已经10岁了也不喜欢被关在笼子里，即使有肾衰竭、我们还是决定将她放回原处。

她已经被放回原处一个多月了。看得出她很开心也吃得好很好所以就长了一些肉肉，不过没有像以前那么丰满了。

Mommy Cat





She was the first community cat that I started to feed and it has changed my life since.

It was because of her that I knew of a group of animal lovers who have been taking care of the community cats in my estate.

It was because of her that I knew to my horror that many of the stray cats in this little red dot were killed by the authorities mainly due to intolerance of a small group of people.

It was because of her that I knew what is a tipped ear cats and its significance.

It was becasue of her that I became obsess with sterilisation of community cats.

It was because of her that I began my journey as a cats caregiver.

It was because of her that I knew of the existence of other animals welfare groups.

It was because of her that I became an advocate for animals welfarism.

Mommy Cat is over the rainbow bridge with her baby now but she will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace my beloved Mommy Cat.

Mommy cat 是我喂养的第一只社区猫，她也因此改变了我的一生。

因为她，我认识了几位住在我社区里照顾社区猫的动物爱护者。

因为她，我才惊觉这小红点的许多流浪猫因为一小撮人的低容忍度而被处死。

因为她，我才知道什么是剪耳猫。

因为她，我很积极的结紮了社区里的猫。

因为她，我开始了喂养社区猫的生涯。

因为她，我开始认识其他的动保团体。

因为她，我也成为了动保的一份子。

虽然 Mommy Cat 已经到彩虹桥与她的小猫相聚，但她将永远的活在我的心里。安息吧，亲爱的 Mommy Cat。

Scary in the Clinic Scary住院了

Scary was brought to the vet due to bite wounds at her hip area. She had eaten very little for slightly over a month since she sustained her injuries.

As her name suggests, she is really one scaredy cat. She would come and go at lightning speed for her food before she was sterilised. Now she would at least come close and rubbed against our legs and we could steal a few strokes while she is eating.

Therefore, we were unable to assess the extend of her injury and were delayed in bringing her to a vet. The vet estimated that she is probably at least 10 years old and blood test done by the clinic showed tht she also has renal failure.

Scary (怕怕的意示)因臀部有伤口而被带去兽医院。自从被咬伤后她以经有一个多月没吃东西了。

从她的名字就知道她是一只非常怕人的猫。在还没有结紮之前她简直是来去如闪电。但在结紮后她就变得比较亲近我们并且还会来摩磳我们的脚、我们也能乘她吃东西时偷摸她几下。

因为她怕人的性格使得我们没有办法确定她的伤势也因此延误了就诊的时间。兽医认为她现在大概是10岁了。兽医也从她的验血报告中发现她有肾衰竭。

She was still on drip when I visited her in the clinic on Saturday. She was very upset and she hissed and lashed at me when I go near the cage. There was a handwritten sign sticked to her cage which read "I am fierce" (which I should take a picture of but forgotten to do so :((). At least she is still fiesty, however, this is the only chance I can take some photographs of her.

Please rest well and recover soon, dear Scary.

星期六去兽医院探望她时她还在吊点滴。她超及不爽的还向我发出嘶嘶声和冲过来要咬我。在她的笼子外还挂了一张“我很凶”的字条（竟然忘了把字条拍照留念:((）。至少她还有力气发脾气。我也乘她住院才有机会提她拍几张照片。

你要好好修息和快点康复哦。

Ignorance Kills (Part 1) 无知的杀害（第1部）

Went to watch the animation 'How to Train Your Dragon' on Good Friday. The movie is about the Vikings who had been killing the dragons for centuries as they wrecked their villages and robbed their livestocks.

Hicups (the male lead) trying to proof himself to be a true Viking injured a dragon during one of their night raids. However, instead of killing the dragaon at its most vunerable stage, he rescued and nurse it back to health. A friendship bloomed between them and it was during this time that Hicups realised that the Vikings had misunderstood the dragons all these times.

The dragons thought to be ferocious and vivacious by the Vikings were actually controlled by a monstrous and gigantic dragon who will eat them if they failed to supply it with sufficient food. Hence, the dragons resorted to robbing the livestocks of the Vikings. When the Vikings finally found out the truth, they were able to live harmoniously with the dragons thereafter.

This movie really struck a cord in me as the plight of these dragons is like a reflection of the stray/community cats in our Little Red Dots. About 10,000 of these cats are killed in AVA every year simply because of our intolerance and ignorance. They were being killed for just being labelled a nuisance, carriers of diseases such as toxoplasmosis, for scratching cars, for peeing and defecating in the void decks etc. If people could bother to spend a bit more time to understand these cats, they would realise that their believes all these times are not exactly true.

在耶稣受难日的假日看了动画片'如何训练你的飞龙'。这部动画片是关于维京人因数百年来造受飞龙的迫害而杀害它们。

至到小嗝嗝（男主角）为了证明自己是一个真正的维京人，在一次的夜间袭击中打伤了一只飞龙。在飞龙最脆弱的时候，小嗝嗝不但没有杀害它还帮它疗伤。他们俩因此成为好朋友而小嗝嗝也开始明白维京人一直以来对飞龙的误解与伤害。

维京人误以为凶猛的飞龙其实是受一只巨大和凶残的飞龙控制着。如果那些飞龙没有足够的食物供奉它就会被它吃掉，这些飞龙只好掠夺维京人的家畜来供奉它。当维京人知道真相后就从此和飞龙们过着和平共处的生活。

这部动画片深深的感动了我，因为我觉得哪些飞龙的遭遇象极了我们小红点的流浪猫和社区猫的遭遇。农粮局每一年大概处死1万只流浪猫和社区猫。他们大多是因为我们人类对他们的无知与误解而被害死的。他们是因为被我们人类认为是害虫、弓形虫病菌带着、刮花车子、在租屋底层随处大小便的指控而被处死的。如果有多一些人愿意花一点时间来了解他们的习性就会发现我们对他们的指控都是错误的。
