Feeding the Community Cats 喂养社区猫
Most cat caregivers/feeders will feed their charge in the wee hours of the night, mostly well past 12 midnight. They will also do the feeding discreetly so as not to attract undue attention.
While I understand that they are doing so to avoid harassment, dumping of unwanted pet cats, complaints against the community cats etc, I, however, think that such act would unconsiously invite discrimation against the cats and the act itself. Besides that, it would also be a safety hazard to the caregivers/feeders. As for the dumping of pet cats, I believe the irresponsible owners who wish to dump their cats will still dump their cats anyway cos they no longer have regards for their well being.
I feed my charge between 9-11pm as this is the time where there are less human and vehicular traffic but not too deserted. And in order to prevent inconvenience to others, I will feed them at locations with the minimal of human and vehicular traffic (though such places are hard to come by in our land scarce Singapore，especially in HDB estates). Believe me, I still had my fair share of encounters with perverts even feeding at such hours!
We had heard many outcry from people towards the unfair treatment of the stray cats and dogs by the general public and the authorities. Did we ourselves contribute to such discrimination??? By feeding the community discreetly in the dead hours of the night, are we unconsciously telling people that it is not the right thing to do???
许多喂养社区猫的人通常在午夜12点过后，夜深人静时分才开始喂养社区猫。为了避开他人无谓的注意而必须偷偷摸摸的进行。
他们这样做无疑是为了避免不必要的骚扰、或遭无良的猫主丢弃宠物猫、或使社区猫遭人投诉等等。但是我觉得这样做反而在无形中让其他人歧视社区猫和喂养社区猫的行为。而且，在夜深人静喂养猫咪也会危害喂养人的人身安全。至于那些有心要遗弃他们猫咪的猫主，还是会照样遗弃他们的因为他们已经不管他们的死活了。
我通常在晚间9-11点之间喂养社区猫因为在这段时间比较少车和人经过也不至于太冷清。我也尽量选择比较避静的地方喂养他们以减低对其他人的不便(在人多地少的新加坡，尤其是组屋区，避静的地方更是难寻）。但在这种时段也能让我不止一次的遇上变态佬！
有很多人对于我们的流浪猫狗不被大众和政府机构友善对待深感愤愤不平。但是我们是否得对此负上一些责任呢？？？是不是因为我们偷偷摸摸、深夜喂养社区猫的行为在无形中告诉大家这种行为是错的呢？？？
